Our Values
We think everyone should be able to harvest the clean, free-flowing energy the sun gives us every day. And there's no reason you can't have unbeatable savings today and tomorrow on your power usage.
At SunRun, we believe:
• Solar power should boost your savings, not deplete them
• Solar system performance should be guaranteed
• Change for the better starts at home
In addition to our commitment to bringing solar power to the mainstream, we support organizations promoting environmental stewardship, including the Nature Conservancy, the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Our Story
Nat Kreamer had the idea for SunRun while working for Governor Schwarzenegger’s office and the California Department of Water Resources. A longtime solar enthusiast, Nat was upset there wasn’t a company helping families buy solar power in an easy and affordable way.
Nat’s brainchild was sidelined temporarily when he was deployed with the U.S. Special Forces to Afghanistan as a member of the Navy Reserves. Nat’s commitment to the SunRun mission grew as he increasingly recognized how important clean, affordable, and independent energy is to our health, environment, posterity, and national security.
Returning home, Nat joined with experienced entrepreneur and former Blackstone investor, Edward Fenster. Ed was considering going solar at his house, but was dissatisfied with the lack of a power generation guarantee in the market. Too many solar systems, he thought, were being installed with too little accountability.
Nat and Ed founded SunRun in January 2007 and were joined by Ed’s Stanford business school classmate, Lynn Jurich, who recognized the great financial and environment benefits that solar power as a service provides for homeowners. After months of brainstorming, gallons of coffee, and many late nights, the SunRun team is excited to make going solar easy, smart, and affordable for everyone.
