Solar is great, but getting started can be hard. In order to get things moving, we looked at responses in the SunRun Q&A from homeowners like you.
SunRun’s most readily available resource is its collection of video questions and answers. The series addresses the basics of solar and a SunRun agreement. Each video response is about a minute long, and each answer is literally drawn out on a whiteboard so that it can be visualized as well as heard.
After you’ve finished looking through the information available on sunrunhome.com, you will probably want to talk about it. SunRun sales reps are available during the day to address your questions and evaluate your home for solar. Talking to them is the best way to find out whether solar is right for you, and then take the next steps required to set the process in motion.
Once you’ve made contact, you can keep up with us on Facebook and Twitter, where you will be able to play an active role in the solar conversation and receive updates about both SunRun and the solar industry as a whole.
Not ready to give us a call? You can also connect with top SunRun installers with expertise in your area.

I am a new sun run customer. The electrician came today to connect the solar panels to our box. I did not realize that the meter that communicates with Sun Run is a “smart” meter.
I have questions as to the EMF output of the Centron Itron meter. I was told that it communicates once every 15 minutes to report the solar production of the system. How long does the communication last? What is the frequency it uses to communicate? How strong is the field generated by the meter? How does it decline with distance from the meter? How does it compare with a cellphone? Does it use cellphone towers to communicate? How does it compare with a wireless modem? Can it use a landline instead? Please use actual statistics and numbers when you respond.
Thanks. Jim
Hi Jim,
These are some good questions, and I hope my answers can help satisfy your curiosity. First off, SunRun uses industry-standard electricity meters to monitor the production of your solar system. Our meters are based on cell phone technology, and while they collect data constantly, they only communicate with us four times a day, rather than every 15 minutes.
