SunRun President Lynn Jurich was a featured speaker at this year’s Women 2.0 Pitch Night on Thursday evening. Women 2.0 seeks to increase the number of female founders of technology startups, by enabling entrepreneurs with the resources, community support, and business knowledge needed to bring a bright idea to fruition. Each year, Women 2.0 hosts Pitch night, a startup competition which offers early-stage ventures around the world the opportunity to meet with iconic investors and win $17,000 worth of start-up services and resources.
Lynn’s keynote fireside chat discussed the future of Cleantech, where she shared her experience as an entrepreneur. The discussion was moderated by Alexis Ringwald, co-founder of Valence Energy and now Director of Business Development at Serious Materials. When asked what important lessons she learned during the early stages of her career, Lynn talked about how important it is to trust your instincts and to not be afraid to ask for help or advice from other companies and entrepreneurs. As with any new venture, especially creating a start-up, great risks are involved. Lynn said that one of the best pieces of advice she received in business school was that as long as you fully commit yourself to your work and always remain ethical, everything will turn out fine.
Lynn also discussed that as an entrepreneur, you constantly live and breathe your business. She noted that although starting a business is challenging and requires both creativity and flexibility, the rewards are invaluable.
SunRun is proud to contribute to this great organization and to support our future entrepreneurs!
