Just like countertop finish and flooring material, solar is becoming a standard option for new homes. The latest example is a partnership between Shea Homes and Sunrun in Arizona. Sunrun and Shea Homes will offer buyers the opportunity to pre-install affordable, custom-designed solar systems when they opt for a home in one of five Shea communities. Not only is the solar affordable, it’s also easy because Sunrun owns the systems and takes care of each one for 20 years.
The partnership will result in new homes built to save money from the start. Sunrun is partnering with local solar company American Solar to install the systems.
New communities set to benefit from the Sunrun and Shea Homes partnership will be Vista Montaña, Ridgeview and Hideaway at Johnson Ranch, Lantana at Power Ranch and SPACES at Evans Ranch. Interested homeowners can choose between three different system sizes built to align with a home’s square footage and orientation toward the sun.

Third party solar option will help the solar industry get grounded in the US.
