Yesterday we announced that longtime Sunrun customer Phil Silver was a finalist in the first annual EBie Awards in New York City. Today we are happy to announce that he won the award! Better yet, Phil Silver is the recipient of the first EBie ever to be awarded! Congratulations!
For those of you who missed yesterday’s announcement, the EBies recognize “significant and measurable environmental performance improvements in existing buildings among building owners and operators, property managers, engineers, consultants, retro-commissioning agents, and lighting designers.” Phil is board member and treasurer of his condo complex’s Home Owners Association in Santa Monica, CA. He entered his building’s 18 kilowatt solar system in the Verdant Brainiac category. The category recognizes the most innovative green renovation project in an existing building, with particular attention to overcoming significant barriers like cost in a manner that is scalable.
“It was a tremendous honor and it was great to be recognized for the work we’ve done so far,” said Phil. “Our award was the first one up at the award ceremony. We won the very first EBie that was ever handed out. No one can ever unseat us from that position.”
By now Phil is getting ready to leave New York, but he’s not done with his solar renovations. He’s just waiting. “One thing in particular we’re really looking forward to is the development of multifamily net metering. Right now our solar system only powers the building’s common area. We’ll be very happy to put up more solar and get everyone on solar when we can connect to everyone’s meter.”
That will be a great day, Phil! Congratulations again to you and to all of the participants in this year’s EBie Awards.
