Tom's Story

Thanks to Sunrun, Tom has been able to sit back and enjoy his solar savings.

Tom is a retired veteran who enjoys spending time with both his family and neighbors. When one of his neighbors, Jay, a San Diego Gas & Electric executive, installed solar panels on his roof, he was intrigued. Tom started looking into solar options but found solar systems far too expensive at first. But, then he found Sunrun, a solar power service company that offered leases and power purchase agreements to homeowners.

With Sunrun, Tom was able to reap the rewards of having solar power without paying the high cost of panels and insurance. "The lease program made it affordable - I only paid $225 out-of-pocket costs," said Tom, "I wanted to go solar because of higher electric bills and I know bills are only going to continue to rise." Instead he can just sit back and enjoy the savings his system is producing.

Tom has been so pleased with Sunrun that he has not only referred his daughter, but two of her friends. He knows that each year he will save more and more, which is why he loves telling people about his Sunrun system. Tom has even thought about what he would do if he ever moved and says, "If we ever move from this house, I'm going to do it over again. Another thing I really like is that if we do sell this house it can easily pass it to the new owner."
