In 2007, Oregon passed a law that required utility companies to get 25% of their energy from renewable sources. In order to encourage solar adoption, Oregon offers solar tax credits and utility rebates for homeowners and businesses.
When you switch to solar with Sunrun, Sunrun files all rebate and incentive paperwork for you, so you don't have to. We pass on the savings from the rebate to you in your low upfront cost. In addition, homeowners keep the full value of the $6,000 renewable energy tax credit.
Homeowners can get a renewable energy tax credit (RETC) on Oregon income taxes for adding solar electric systems to their homes. The home solar system must be a minimum size of 200 watts and must be verified by a tax-credit certified technician. The Oregon solar tax credit is for up to $6,000 at $3 per watt, and a maximum of $1,500 tax credit can be claimed per year.
Oregon's rebate program, the Energy Trust of Oregon's residential solar incentive, launched in May 2003 and is available to customers of Pacific Power and Portland General Electric.
