Shoshanna's Story

Working in the renewable energy industry, Shoshanna was very passionate about solar power.

Since purchasing her home about a year ago, Shoshanna had been very interested in greening her home and finding the best ways to conserve. She herself worked for a renewable energy cooperative, and was both passionate and interested in solar power. However, as passionate as she was about clean energy, Shoshanna wasn't sure if she could afford to purchase a solar electric system for her home. "Solar can be really, really expensive," Shoshanna explained.

Luckily, Shoshanna learned that 1BOG (One Block Off the Grid), a community purchasing program for solar systems, was coming to Philadelphia, she decided to get a quote to see whether solar power was right for her and her home. Her home, with its brand new roof and lack of shade from trees or buildings, was deemed perfect for solar power.

"The guaranteed output is also a comfort," Shoshanna added, "ensuring that I'll see the benefits of this investment."

Shoshanna hopes to be a net generator in peak months. Her system is producing more than she had initially expected, and she is already witnessing the savings.
